Royal City Hunt Club
« on: December 29, 2012, 05:11:19 PM »
I would like to hear positive and negative experiences in regards to RCHC. Im considering joining next year. Mostly for pheasant but I like the idea of field hunting geese as well. Any and all suggestions would be great. Thanks.

might check the archives, been discussed before a time or two. i think if it fits your needs -good- not everyone wants the same thing in a hunt so your responces will differ. some good- some bad, what do you want is the question ?

I want to hunt a mix of farm land and natural terrain.

I have actually belonged to this club,I liked it, less headache of trying to get permission from the farmers. Also a nice thing about it is,THERE IS ALOT of land. Some is crap, but most good. The downfall is there are so many hunt clubs out here in the Basin, and they are intermingled one after another, so their could be people/groups in the field next to you. Another nice thing is most of the land, the farmers are really nice people.Get to know them. They will watch their fields and give info out about birds. One last negative, not many places to stay locally,I recommend the Vantage Motel(Inexspensive) or the Mardon Cabins,Othello is a dive.Im rejoining next year even though I live in Moses,it's nice to have extra land for cheap. And the money goes to a good cause.

2yrs ago they told us about 75 I think. And there is more than enough land for that many people to hunt,it goes from just West of Othello to just about Columbia River,HWY 26 to Frenchman Hills.Obviously not all of that is Royal Hunt Club. There is about 4 of us that sign up usually. But, Im the only one on the Eastside.

I have heard they are thinking about not doing the hunt club next year as they haven't had enough hunters the last couple of years. We have been members for 2 yrs and I think it is a great way to get a young dog on some birds, besides the fact that you know you have a place to hunt.

I will have to go over there after the season and find out. I was going to join again next year, just for the access to land.Plus everything over here is getting leased out, so harder and harder to find land.I will keep an update and let everyong know.

If this is the same as the Royal Youth Booster hunt permit I would recommend it. I haven't been a member for a few years now (hunt other places mostly) but I've had many a memorable goose hunt on the Royal Slope. Several members of my family and I used to buy permits each year. We didn't partake in the pheasant hunting much but there was always a bunch of fields that would hold geese through out the season. I still consider buying the permit each year but just can't pony up the cash, I believe they offer a 3 day permit as well. Worth a look!  :twocents:
Fish hard, hunt harder!

They did offer the 3 day permit as of last year. The problem is it's like 175.00 or something like that. For another 125 you can get the whole season.Plus a tax write off, it's a donation to the the Royal Youth Booster.

It's been good for us so far this year. They have released a few really dark (melanistic?) birds this year as well (P.S. I never saw another hunter in any of the fields we went by, or in the fields we wanted to hunt).
